Whether you are an experienced practitioner, educator, or researcher, we invite you to share your expertise and contribute to our growing collection of high-quality maritime publications. Our editorial team is committed to collaborating closely with authors to bring valuable, authoritative content to the global maritime community.
Manuscript and proposal review process

At Magellan Maritime Press and its imprints, we are committed to maintaining high standards in our publications. Our review process ensures each manuscript and proposal receives thoughtful, fair consideration.

1. Initial Submission
Authors submit a manuscript or proposal, including a synopsis, author biography, and relevant supporting materials, by email.

2. Preliminary Assessment
Our editorial team reviews each submission for relevance, originality, and alignment with our publishing focus. Submissions that do not meet our scope or basic quality requirements will be politely declined at this stage.

3. Peer Review / Expert Evaluation
If the submission passes the preliminary assessment, it is forwarded to our network of subject-matter experts for a confidential peer review. Reviewers assess the manuscript for accuracy, technical merit, clarity, and overall contribution to the field.

4. Feedback and Recommendations
Based on reviewer feedback, the editorial team provides authors with detailed comments and recommendations. Authors may be asked to revise their work to address specific concerns or suggestions.

5. Final Editorial Decision
Once revisions are submitted, the editorial team conducts a final review. We may seek further clarification or minor adjustments before making a decision. Authors are then notified of the outcome - acceptance, conditional acceptance (pending further revisions), or decline.

6. Contract and Publication
Accepted manuscripts proceed to contract negotiation, followed by copyediting, typesetting, and production. Throughout the process, authors are kept informed and involved at each stage.

7. Ongoing Communication
We believe in transparent and timely communication. Authors receive regular updates regarding timelines, publication milestones, and promotional opportunities.

This process ensures the quality and integrity of our publications while supporting authors throughout their publishing journey.
